  • Cre8 – developing the next generation of support services for Caribbean creative industries

    When: 22 September 2011 08:30 - 23 September 2011 18:00

    Where: Bridgetown, Barbados

    Cre8 is an Interactive Forum for Caribbean business support organisations (BSOs) which work with the Creative Industries (CI) sector at a national or regional level. The purpose of the forum is to help Caribbean BSOs to develop their capacity to provide services which will accelerate the growth of CI businesses in national, regional, and international markets. As part of the process, we will consider if it is possible to create a Caribbean model (s) for a new generation of services specifically aligned to the growth of the CI sector – and consider the practical implications of implementing such a model.
    An Online forum has been created to start the process of engagement in the run-up to 2 days of Cre8, where several stakeholders will meet in person to agree on actions and pilot/demonstration projects which would test and implement the new strategies which develop from the Forum; a help-desk will be available to enable delegates to follow-up and to further develop their thoughts and proposals;

    The general framework of the dialogue will be as follows:

    • Understanding the baseline- an assessment of current services and service-levels
    • What do companies want and what do they need?
    • A global overview of the Creative Industries sector
    • Examples of successful business-support models
    • Characteristics of successful BSOs
    • Next-generation services
    • Creating new model(s)
    • National and regional platforms
    • Building public / private support
    • Make it happen!
    • Next steps

    The Dialogue is scheduled to take place in Bridgetown Barbados 22-23 September, 2011.
