Geographic indications and their impact on development and integration into value chains

ITC at the WTO's 4th Global Review of Aid for Trade

    ITC Communications
    July 09, 2013
Geographical indications (GIs), which are used to protect intellectual property, are often misunderstood despite their positive contribution to rural development, preservation of diversity and local jobs. The objective of this event is to improve access to GI-related information in developing countries, and to illustrate the value of GIs through the experiences of people working to protect GIs in their countries. It will also address the process in which countries with experience working on GIs can cooperate with countries that are willing to take steps in that direction.

Mr Jacky Charbonneau, Chief of Enterprise Competitiveness at ITC, will deliver a presentation.
